FIA Super Licence

Formula Two's championship top three points scorers will all become eligible for a prestigious FIA Superlicence.

The Superlicence, issued exclusively by the FIA, is required in order to compete in Formula One Grands Prix.

Qualification for the prestigious licence is typically extremely difficult, with requirements stating the driver must hold a Grade A competition licence and must either be the champion of category outside of Formula One, or be extremely succesful in that category over a number of years.

Due to its close ties with the FIA, Formula Two is exceptional however as it offers the championship's top three finishers eligibility for a Super Licence.

This in turn gives F2 graduates a far better opportunity to progress into Formula One.

F2 made history in 2009 when Mikhail Aleshin - who finished the championship in third - became the first Russian to qualify for an FIA Superlicence. Aleshin went on to win Formula Renault 3.5 in 2010.
