As with previous seasons, the winner of the FIA Formula 2 Championship will receive a prize test with the Williams F1 Team. They will follow in the footsteps of previous winners Andy Soucek, Dean Stoneman, Mirko Bortolotti and Luciano Bacheta, who all performed outstandingly well in their respective tests.
Meanwhile, the second and third place finishers will be rewarded with a GP2 test, establishing a clear and comprehensive route for the world's best young talents to progress into the highest tiers of motor racing.
Due to its close ties with the FIA, the championship's top three finishers also become eligible for an FIA Super Licence, required to compete in Formula One Grands Prix.
For newcomers, there is the Rookie Prize with
the top rookie driver being awarded two free days of running during
the post-season F2 test programme.
Finally, the F2 series is played out under the eyes of the
FIA and the Formula One paddock, with all qualifying
and race results sent to key personnel throughout the F1 world -
allowing them to follow the championship, and more importantly its
drivers, throughout the season.
"My Williams F1 drive has been the perfect way to learn how
the car works and adapts. Just to be around a team like Williams is
a special experience and I've gained so much from the day."
Luciano Bacheta - 2012 FIA Formula 2
Champion
