Dino Zamparelli has his sights set on a maiden F2 podium in this
afternoon's second FIA Formula Two race at Silverstone, after
securing P7 in this morning's qualifying session.
The 19-year-old Brit only confirmed his place on the 2012 F2 grid
in the week prior to Silverstone but has shown strong pace
early on, qualifying sixth for race one and running fifth for most
of the race until he was hit by a technical issue.
Zamparelli, who is driver coached by 2011 F2 champion Mirko
Bortolotti, lines up in seventh spot for today's 21-lap race and is
looking to end his weekend on a high as he bids for an F2 podium in
only his first weekend in the series.
Speaking to formulatwo.com Zamparelli, who is sponsored by Vibe
Energy Gum, said: "Race one didn't quite go as well as it
could have but we've had good pace and we ran well in today's
qualifying session where we were two tenths off P2 and could have
been on the front row. After seeing what [Luciano] Bacheta
did in yesterday's race, I think a podium is certainly possible
this afternoon - I just need to concentrate on making up places and
using my overboost to its full effect."
Race two gets underway at 14:05 (local time) with full coverage on
