Paul will enjoy his maiden run in a Williams JPH1 F2 car in Portimao this week after spending two seasons in the Formula Palmer Audi Championship. Son of 1960s Formula One and Formula Two driver Alan Rees, Paul had previously raced in Formula BMW and the Formula Renault Winter Series before graduating to Formula Palmer Audi in 2008. He scored six podiums during the 2009 season.

Angolan pilot Ricardo Teixeira signed up to drive all four days of F2 winter testing at both Valencia and Portimao. Teixeira spent last season contesting the main GP2 Championship, which followed two years competing in the British F3 International Class. Following a positive first test in Spain, Ricardo is considering joining the FIA Formula Two Championship in 2010.

The Dutchman competed in International Formula Master during 2009 while also racing in selected rounds of Formula Renault 2.0 Sweden. This followed an encouraging campaign where Kelvin finished tenth overall in the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC. The 22-year-old is now looking at potentially graduating to Formula Two and he will make his test debut in Portimao on 11 December.

19-year-old Danish pilot Johan Jokinen starred on his Formula Two debut when he set the fastest time on the opening day of the Valencia test. Jokinen believes F2 will provide him with the perfect platform on which to showcase his ability and he will be back in the car in Portimao. He raced in the F3 Euro Series with the Kolles and Heinz Union team this year, having previously competed in Formula Renault and Formula Ford.

Former A1GP rookie driver Duncan Tappy has spent 2009 competing on both sides of the Atlantic in Indy Lights and Formula Master, as well as representing the Turkish football club Galatasaray in Superleague. Tappy was nominated for the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Award in 2005 and 2007 after winning the Formula Ford Festival and the British Formula Renault Championship respectively.

At just 17 years of age Nico has enjoyed a sensational 2009. He clinched the Formula Renault 2.0 Suisse championship with nine wins from 12 races - and also finished every race on the podium. After racing in selected rounds of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, Nico went on to top an end of season test in International Formula Master. The youngster is now eyeing a switch to Formula Two in 2010.

The stepson of former F1 driver Julian Bailey, Jack's single seater career stretches back to 2006 when he was awarded a Formula BMW scholarship. Jack took several victories in Formula Palmer Audi during 2007 and 2008 before he moved to Formula Two for the inaugural season. Jack showed plenty of potential during the year with a fifth place at Spa-Francorchamps a season's highlight.

Jolyon enjoyed a successful maiden season of international racing in 2009, which included a memorable sixth place at Imola in Formula Two in September. The 18-year-old had raced in the Formula Palmer Audi Championship for the previous two seasons, becoming the youngest ever race winner in FPA history when he won at Brands Hatch. He finished third in the 2008 standings before progressing to F2.

During the season he competed alongside Formula Two race winner Philipp Eng.

Lariche arrives at Portimao off the back of two seasons in Formula Renault WEC and Formula Renault Eurocup. Having driven single seaters since 2006, Lariche has gradually moved his way up the racing ladder securing strong results including a win at Valencia, finishing ahead of current British Formula Three champion Daniel Ricciardo. Lariche is hoping to graduate to Formula Two in 2010.

Alex is the son of ex-F1 driver and BBC commentator Martin Brundle, and one of the youngest drivers in the 2009 F2 field. He brilliantly scored a championship point at the first time of asking, taking eighth place in Valencia. Brundle went on to show front-running pace at several other rounds, with a fifth place at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps being a particular highlight. Prior to F2, Alex raced in FPA during 2007 and 2008.

Promising Belgian racer Bailly enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2009 which has led to him being signed up by the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium National team. After a strong karting career, Bailly made the step-up to single seaters in 2008, competing in two races in the Formula Renault WEC series. Benjamin switched to the Formul'Academy Euro Series in 2009, which he won in convincing style.

The 2009 Formula Renault UK Champion and recently crowned McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner will contest both days of the F2 test in Portimão. It will be Smith's maiden run in a Williams JPH1 and it follows a sensational season for the 21-year-old. Smith's name first came to prominence in 2005 when he won the Formula BMW UK Championship after he took three race wins and nine podium positions.

This followed two championship winning seasons in Formula 1600 Russia, and now he hopes to follow compatriot Mikhail Aleshin into Formula Two. A lack of budget curtailed his progress in 2009 and he now sees F2 as the perfect opportunity to get his career back on track.

A relative unknown prior to this year, the Lithuanian raced in both Formula Two and Formula Palmer Audi, finishing the latter as runner-up in the standings. He saved his most notable performances for Formula Two where took a maiden pole position and victory in Imola. He scored a total of four podiums and finished seventh overall.

In 2008 Alonso stepped up to the cup class of Spanish F3, taking two podiums and one fastest lap on his way to sixth in the standings. The 19-year-old finished 11^th in the 2009 Formula Palmer Audi Championship after taking one victory at Silverstone.

Andy enjoyed a dream season in the 2009 FIA Formula Two Championship - the Spaniard scoring seven wins on his way to securing a dominant title. He recently set the pace for the Williams F1 team during a rookie test in Jerez and he remains firmly focussed on getting an F1 seat in 2010. Andy is back in F2 action this week as he continues to assist with developing the Williams JPH1 for the 2010 season.

Jonathan becomes the first American to drive a modern day F2 car after signing up to test the Williams JPH1 in Portugal. Summerton was a race-winner in the Formula 3 Euro Series and A1GP earlier in his career before he returned to America in 2009. He finished second in the Atlantic Championship this year and had also been a frontrunner in Indy Lights before a lack of finance curtailed his season.

Tristan produced one of the surprises of the season when he took a brilliant podium finish in his debut Formula Two race at the final weekend in Barcelona. The Frenchman followed this up with another points finish in the second race. Vautier also secured six victories in the Formula Palmer Audi championship - more than any other driver - on his way to finishing fourth overall in the standings.

He also won a round of the ultra competitive F3 Euro Series and competed in one round of the 2008/2009 GP2 Asia Series.

The German contested six races in the ultra competitive F3 Euro Series in 2009, which followed encouraging campaigns in the ATS Formel 3 Cup (2008) and Formula BMW ADAC (2007). After enjoying his F2 debut in Spain, Kevin will again be hoping to run well in the final winter test this week.
