Q&A with Kelvin Snoeks
"F2 has been really good for me"

Dutchman Kelvin Snoeks has enjoyed an impressive start to his 2010 season, which included his maiden podium position in Marrakech. He continued to show good form in Monza although the 22-year-old didn't achieve results that his pace deserved. We asked Kelvin for his thoughts on his season so far...

How did you rate your performance in Marrakech?
"I had a great weekend in Marrakech. I was just so happy as it was the first podium in my racing career. Of course, I had some luck with incidents ahead of me but I also had the speed. After a problem with my car at the start of the second race I managed to come from last to ninth - it was a pretty crazy race and a very nice weekend for me."

You secured your best qualifying result last time out in Monza - what do you put the improvement down to?
"Qualifying in Monza was great and I was able to take sixth. I am still improving all the time - I am just trying to be more relaxed. Maybe in the past I was pushing too much during qualifying and I would sometimes overdrive the car. Second qualifying in F2 is interesting because it is almost like a one lap shootout - you have three overboosts during the 30 minutes but you have to use them all in one lap to make it work. It is more pressure of course but you really just have to stay calm."

You were involved in some eventful races in Italy - talk us through the action...
"I drove another great race from the back in the first race - I could have been P7 or P8 but I had to settle for 13th after I made a small mistake trying to pass Benjamin Lariche. In the second race I was in P5 - I then got by Philipp Eng and I was up to fourth. I dropped back to fifth after being passed by Dean Stoneman and I then had a race long fight with Armaan Ebrahim.

"I had a problem with braking all weekend at turn one and it happened again a couple of times during the race. I had to go straight across the chicane and I later found out that I received a drive through penalty for this. I didn't see the flag however as I was just so focussed on the fight behind me. It is not an excuse but it is just how it happened - Ebrahim hit me in the end anyway and I retired in the pits with a damaged car."

You have been handed a ten place grid penalty for both races in Zolder next week after receiving a black flag in Monza - how do you feel about the penalty?
"It was only after the race that I realised I had received the drive through and then the black flag. Qualifying in Zolder is going to be very difficult - it is not a great motivation for me but being as I have come from the back in both Marrakech and Monza, at least I know that a good race is possible."

How have you enjoyed racing in F2 so far?
"
F2 has been really good for me and I have made a lot of progress. I like the whole team and the feeling is like one big family. I enjoy it very much - everyone is really friendly and the drivers are a lot more open around each other. I love the championship and I am looking forward to the rest of the season."
