Markus Pommer is confident he can compete for the runner-up spot
in the 2012 FIA Formula Two Championship after picking up his
second win of the season at Paul Ricard last time out.
The 21-year-old German added to his maiden victory at Spa earlier
this year with a lights-to-flag win at the sun-soaked French venue
to move up to fourth in the drivers' standings. That result now
means he lies just three points adrift of Christopher Zanella ahead
of him and only 14 points shy of second-place Mathéo Tuscher.
"I'm now in a position to fight for the second position in the
championship," said Pommer who remains one of only two drivers to
have scored points in every race so far this season. "P1 one is
perhaps going to be too hard but I'm now back in the fight for P2.
It's really tight for the points in second place so we'll have to
see what happens and how things work out in Hungary."
Pommer now hopes to continue his strong form for the next F2
rounds which take place at the Hungaroring in Budapest from 7-9
September with official testing being held beforehand. Full
