Pavlovic targets maiden pole position
Serbian in bullish mood after making set-up progress

Miloš Pavlović is aiming for his maiden Formula Two pole position at Donington Park this weekend (15/16 August) following an encouraging pre-event test earlier in the week.

The Serbian completed 57 laps during the test and clinched second place with his final lap of the day: "It's good for morale," said Miloš. "I just hope I can go one better and take the pole when it really matters during qualifying!"

Pavlović is enjoying working with the F2 engineers and feels he has a good understanding of the Williams JPH1 Formula Two car: "We did not have the right set-up at first on the new tyres during the test so we came in and made a change," he said. "The good thing about gaining experience with the car is that we knew the changes would work. I feel like I have a good experience of the F2 car now and after the change, the car did exactly as I expected. I am really pleased - it was a good way to end the day."

"Changing engineers at every round encourages the driver to get more involved and it is crucial as a driver to learn all the aspects of the car that you can change. It has taken some time for all of us to do this, but now I have a good understanding of the changes that you can make and how it will affect the car."

Miloš is also quick to point out that the equality within F2 gives an added inspiration to learn and improve, as it is down to the driver to prove he or she is the best: "My budget in previous seasons has meant that I could not race with the best teams in other formulae, which was sometimes difficult. We have a level playing field here in F2 and therefore you can fully express yourself, more so than in other categories."

Currently lying eighth in the overall standings, Pavlović realises it is crunch time if he is to stay in touch with the championship race: "It is a question of getting it right here at Donington and I can do it. It is important that I start on the first two rows, but I am confident I can get good results. I have to do it now; otherwise it will be too late."
