Onwards and upwards for Miloš Pavlović
Serbian collects his biggest weekend points hauls so far at Spa
After a challenging start to his F2 campaign, Miloš
Pavlović scored his first championship points with a fifth
place at Brno - one week later and Miloš was in front
running form at Spa-Francorchamps.
Starting from seventh on the grid in the opening race of the
weekend in Belgium, Pavlović got a great start and
eventually finished third after getting past Julien Jousse at
the exit of Les Combes. He was then elevated to second place
following Andy Soucek's ten second penalty. "Saturday was a good
day for me - I really wanted that podium," said Pavlović. "I
just hope we can continue like that for the rest of the
season."
He went on to finish fourth in Sunday's encounter after
pressuring and passing Alex Brundle in the latter stages of the
race. Having moved up to seventh in the overall standings, the
former GP2 racer is now looking at the championship as a whole.
"Because of the bad luck I had in Valencia and part of the Brno
weekend, I just need to focus on doing well and I am sure the
points will come," commented Miloš. "I do not want to be
just one of the drivers who is fighting at the front of the
championship - I want to win it!"
Having had a chance to assess his driver rivals in
F2, Pavlović is finding it hard to pinpoint a standout
candidate for the title. "It is still not clear," he said. "It is
hard to establish who the championship favourites are at this
stage. Consistency is the key and that is exactly what I am looking
for."
Rounds seven and eight of the championship will take place at
Brands Hatch (17/18/19 July) and Pavlović has an
admiration for the Grand Prix circuit situated in the heart of
Kent, England. "Brands Hatch is my favourite circuit in the world,"
concluded Miloš. "I haven't been there for quite a long
time, but I have always gone well there. My second ever car race
victory came at Brands Hatch, so I am really looking forward to
going back."
