Mathéo Tuscher kept his championship hopes alive with a superb
drive during today's thrilling wet race at Monza, working his way
back through the field to secure victory and push the title race
into a season showdown on Sunday. Meanwhile, Christopher Zanella
made a welcome return to the podium with Kevin Mirocha finishing
third. Read what the top three drivers had to say after the
champagne had been sprayed…
"I had too much wheelspin at the start and saw that Luciano was already alongside me. I then braked going into the chicane but the track was really slippery, in fact I've never seen a track that slippery before, and I had no grip so went over it. After that I was P3 and just everything happened with places changing all the time! I wasn't as quick at the start of the race but I got faster and faster and was pleased to see the chequered flag. I will do my best to do the same tomorrow but we'll have to see."
"It's great to be on the podium as it's been a while. I got an ok start and then we went off together, sometimes I was in front, sometimes Mirocha was in front, sometimes Tuscher! There was fighting all the time. In the middle of the race I tried to overtake Mirocha and my rear locked up a bit and a went on at the chicane and lost a lot of time to Tuscher. In the end I couldn't have do any more so I'm happy with that result."
"It was an incredible race, full of emotion. I was angry at points and then five corners later I was leading. A great race to drive. I was at the front at the beginning and thought I did everything right, but then I had some issues with my tyres, especially the left rear tyre which caused vibration which didn't make things easy. Towards the end of the race Tuscher and Zanella were just too quick for me and I stopped fighting for the win still a good result to add to a good second half of the season."
