Daniel McKenzie is hoping to continue his strong run of form on his maiden F2 weekend as he targets victory in race two.
The 23-year-old narrowly missed out on fourth place in yesterday's thrilling race one in his first F2 outing after switching from Formula Renault 3.5.
For today's 21-lap race the Brit lines up on row two (P4) after a close session saw him miss out on the front row by just 13 hundredths of a second. He now hopes he can follow in Luciano Bacheta's footsteps from race one and work his way through the field into the top spot, in spite of a recurring leg injury.
"Qualifying two felt good and we're making steps forward all the time," said McKenzie. "I've been suffering with an injury to my left leg which meant that I could only manage two hot laps during the session but with new tyres it was enough to get P4. We'll keep making gains as I get more use to the car and I think we have the pace to do well and even secure the win."
Today's second F2 race gets underway at 14:05 (local time) with coverage on www.formulatwo.com.
