Jousse warms up for Imola with sportscar podium
Frenchman contests 1000kms of Silverstone
Julien Jousse took another podium position in the Le Mans Series
(LMS) finale at Silverstone yesterday, as the 23-year-old kept
himself sharp ahead of the F2 round at Imola this weekend (18/19/20
September).
The Frenchman has contested selected races with the Luc Alphand
Aventures Team in a Corvette GT1 car during 2009, which included a
stunning podium at the world famous Le Mans 24 Hours in June. The
team itself clinched the GT1 crown at the previous LMS round in
Germany and yesterday they enjoyed a race long battle, which was
eventually won by the Gigawave Aston Martin DBR9 in front of their
home crowd.
Jousse has been in fantastic form in recent weeks after taking
his maiden Formula Two win at Donington Park last month. He
followed that up with a podium last time out at Oschersleben and
now Jousse is firmly focussed on the remainder of the F2 season:
"Of course, Formula Two is my main priority," he said. "I always
said that top three in the championship was very important as I can
qualify for the FIA Superlicence. For me the championship is
finished for sure, but I will fight the maximum for second
position."
Julien is currently fourth in the overall F2 standings - just
two points behind third placed Robert Wickens and a further two
points adrift from Mikhail Aleshin in second.
Another F2 driver was in action at Silverstone over the weekend
as Natacha Gachnang took two top eight finishes in Formula Le Mans
- a result she still craves in Formula Two: "To finish twice
in the points in the same day isn't as great as it appears," said
the Swiss racer. "At least I helped the team remain second in the
championship."
Natacha will be targeting her first F2 points finish of the
season as rounds 13 & 14 of the FIA Formula Two Championship
take place at Imola, Italy, this weekend.
