Markus Pommer secured pole for the second Formula Two race at
the Hungaroring with a superb lap towards the end of the sun-soaked
30-minute session. He finished three tenths ahead of race one
winner Alex Fontana with Mihai Marinescu in third, although the
Romanian will start P8 following a five-place grid penalty for an
incident yesterday. Read what the top three had to say…
Markus Pommer
"The lap was really good and smooth with no mistakes but I didn't
expect to be three or four tenths up, but was confident it would be
good enough for the front row. Yesterday was not so good as we had
a gearshift issue but the laps we did today felt good and I'm
looking forward to the race."
Alex Fontana
"The car feels fantastic and I don't think I could have gone
quicker than Markus today. I'm feeling confident ahead of today's
race, especially after the win yesterday, and overtaking the leader
can be done here although Markus will be a tough opponent."
Mihai Marinescu
"The pace has been good all weekend and I'm quite confident for
the race this afternoon. I just want to ask these guys [Pommer and
Fontana] to not go off too fast at the beginning so I can catch up
with them!"
