Ebrahim: “I want to come back next year and fight for wins”
Indian racer enjoys exciting maiden season in F2
Armaan Ebrahim is hoping to end his maiden season of
international racing on a high in Barcelona this weekend before
focussing on a return to Formula Two in 2010.
Ebrahim's season is so far remembered for two great drives when
he sliced through the field to take a double points finish in Brno.
He also scored well at Donington Park and it is that kind of form
that the 20-year-old is expecting to show on a consistent basis
next season.
"Formula Two is definitely on my radar again for 2010, because I
have gained so much experience of the car and circuits over here in
Europe," said Armaan. "I want to come back next year and fight for
wins, and be consistently towards the front. It is certainly my
target to have another season in F2."
Along with his impressive results, Ebrahim has also been caught
up in some unfortunate incidents where point's finishes were often
possible. He performed fantastically well during the final free
practice session at the Circuit de Catalunya this morning (Friday)
and now the Amaron-backed racer is hoping to end his season in the
points paying positions again.
"It has been an action packed season for me," noted Ebrahim. "I
think it has had everything, but I have really enjoyed my racing.
Of course, I have had some unfortunate moments but that is just
part of the sport, and I have got better as the season has
progressed. Free practice went well considering I only completed
one flying lap on the new tyres. The next lap would have been even
faster but the chequered flag came out - it was still nice to be up
near the top. Of course, it is qualifying that really matters so we
will have to improve. When everyone was on old tyres during the
test on Monday I was also in the top ten so this was also positive,
particularly for the races.
"We have another qualifying session tomorrow and let's see if we
can get towards the front again. It is just so competitive out
there but that is exactly how it should be and has been all season.
I definitely joined the right championship - I think everyone at F2
has done a wonderful job and I just hope I can end my season on a
high."
