De Marco chases double points finish
Young Italian pleased with top six result
Nicola De Marco made a welcome return to the points paying
positions yesterday when he finished sixth in race one at
Oschersleben, and now the young Italian is hoping for a similar
result in race two.
De Marco made up seven places in a fantastic drive yesterday and
he was pleased to score points for the first time since
Spa-Francorchamps back in June. "The start of the race was very
difficult, because I was in 13th position and the first
corner was not easy," said De Marco. "I was really consistent
during the race however, and by the end my pace was similar
to Andy Soucek, which was good.
"I was unlucky to start that far down anyway because I was
getting faster and faster during qualifying. Unfortunately I
hit the red flag at the wrong moment - I could have been at
least third on the grid."
The 19-year-old will start seventh on the grid for this
afternoon's race as the Italian searches for his first
double-points haul of the season. "I hope to have a good
race later today because I am quick and I
have the pace to run near the front," concluded Nicola. "I think
the first corner is just a matter of luck however - it is
just an incredible corner. It is really difficult to get
through cleanly, but if I can then hopefully
I can have a perfect race."
