Swiss teenager Mathéo Tuscher secured his second pole from four races during today's difficult (Sunday) qualifying session at Portimão which was interrupted by a sudden hailstorm. 2011 F2 runner-up Christopher Zanella finished second for the 30-minute session with three-time race winner Luciano Bacheta in third. Read what each driver had to say during the post-qualifying press conference...
"When we first went out it was just to get a feeling for the track but then I saw the dark clouds and I knew I had to push before the rain came. There was a bit of luck involved and it was probably the strangest qualifying session I have ever done - you just couldn't see anything. I was pretty scared! We only went out again to help with the set-up for the race."
"I feel more confident in the wet than in the dry and I'm hoping for a wet race later today where maybe I can be in the top two. Yesterday I wasn't able to find the perfect set-up for the race but I know I have a good set up for the wet which is why I want it to rain later!"
"In the early part of the session I wasn't really pushing so I'm really happy to be in P3 because if everyone else was pushing I wouldn't have been P3! I didn't see the dark clouds above and was just hoping it would dry out! Towards the end of the session we went out to get some experience of the conditions to help with today's race."
