Natacha Gachnang joined Formula Two after a strong campaign saw
her finish third in the 2008 Spanish Formula 3 Championship,
confirming her reputation as one of the best female talents in
world motorsport.
The Swiss star, whose cousin is Toro Rosso F1 driver
Sébastian Buemi, made a solid start to her season in Formula
Two, qualifying 14th for the two races in Valencia and finishing
11th in race one. She demonstrated superb race craft on several
occasions, notably at Spa-Francorchamps where she carved her way
through the field to improve by a total of 16 places over the two
races to finish 11th and 13th respectively.
She challenged for the top ten again at Brands Hatch, where she
scored her best qualifying result of the season in ninth, and at
Oschersleben, finishing inside the top 12 in both qualifying
sessions and races. After such combative performances her maiden
points of the season duly arrived in the final round at Barcelona,
where she converted ninth place on the grid for race one into a
season's best finish of seventh. Gachnang was unlucky not to have
scored more points finishes after challenging for a top ten berth
throughout the season.
