Julien Jousse enjoyed a highly successful season in Formula Two,
the Frenchman
finishing fifth overall and remaining in contention for a
championship top three
position until the very last race of the year.
Julien started the season as one of the favourites for the title
after finishing
runner-up in the 2008 Formula Renault 3.5 series. He impressed from
the outset,
consistently scoring points in five of the six opening races and at
one point
leading the championship following podiums in Brno and
Spa-Francorchamps.
Jousse's championship aspirations were dealt a blow after he failed
to score
points in either Brands Hatch race, but he came back at Donington
Park with
one of most impressive F2 performances of 2009. After finishing
seventh in the
opening race, Julien started race two from pole position. He duly
converted
this into a dominant first victory in F2, winning by a record
margin in the 2009
season. He maintained his strong form at Oschersleben, finishing
third in race
two, before collecting points in the final two races in Barcelona
to take fifth in
the championship.
