Brazil's Carlos Iaconelli joined Formula Two after spending a
year in GP2, and he enjoyed a reasonable season to finish 11th
overall.
Carlos, who lived in Monaco during his F2 campaign, enjoyed his
best weekend in the opening round at Valencia. Having qualified
fourth and seventh for the two races, he proceeded to take a podium
at the first time of asking, finishing runner-up in race one in
what turned out to be his best result of the year. He followed this
up with eighth in the second race, leaving him third in the
championship after the opening weekend.
The Brazilian struggled to repeat such form in Brno and
Spa-Francorchamps, but was back in the points at Brands Hatch after
finishing sixth from ninth on the grid. He ran well again at
Donington Park, narrowly missing out on the points after finishing
ninth in race two, before taking fourth in Oschersleben from ninth
on the grid. He added to this with a fifth place finish in the
second race at Imola, which proved an emotional result for the
Brazilian as his racing idol is Ayrton Senna.
