The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is the home of the
Formula One Belgian Grand Prix and is widely regarded as one of the
best motor racing circuits in the world.
Over the years, the Spa course has been modified
several times. The biggest change saw the circuit being shortened
from 14 km (8.7 miles) to 7 km (4.35 miles) in 1979. There have
been further updates in recent years and the new layout still is a
fast and hilly route through the Ardennes where speeds in excess of
330 km/h (205 mph) can be reached.
Spa remains well known for its unpredictable weather
and close racing. The most famous part of the circuit remains the
daunting Eau Rouge / Raidillon
combination.
F2 will join the International GT Open series in
headlining the Spa Euro Race event in June 2009.
