Tamburello
The Tamburello chicane is a fast left-hander at the end of the main straight. The circuit broadens out on the exit, meaning drivers will look to run the chicane as straight as possible and carry the speed out on the run down to Villeneuve.
Villeneuve
Drivers need to stay tight in the left-hand approach to Villeneuve, before braking hard and taking an early apex through the right hander. Using all the kerb is a useful way to stay tight on the exit, but drivers need to be careful to protect the inside line going into the Tosa left-hander.
Piratella
Coming out of Tosa, drivers can take the kink flat but need to keep right to give themselves the best line through Piratella. It is important to get the car turned and the power down early in order to get a good drive up the hill and into Acque Minerali.
Acque Minerali
One of the thrills of Imola, Acque Minerale is a sweeping left hander over the crescent of a hill. Drivers can carry speed through the first left, but need to get the speed down and take a tight apex on the next, using all the kerb to make the exit as straight as possible.
Variante Alta
Variante Alta has a tricky blind uphill approach, and is often a place where drivers with experience of Imola can make up time. Drivers need to avoid the kerbs on the inside of the left hander, but they also need to stay quite tight as the circuit falls away to the left meaning there is very little room for error.
Rivazza
The penultimate corner, Rivazza is a classic double apex left-hander that is easier to approach as two separate corners. It’s a fairly standard line through both, so it all comes down to feathering the throttle to keep the car balanced and avoid oversteer that can be costly going down to the final chicane at Variante Bossa.

Circuit Information

The Imola circuit was home to the San Marino Formula One Grand Prix until 2006, and has recently undergone a series of revisions under the direction of Hermann Tilke in the hope of F1 returning in the next few years.

The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is based near the Italian town of Imola, a picturesque little town in the province of Bologna, and is one of the few major international circuits to run in an anti-clockwise direction.

F2 ran alongside the FIA World Touring Car Championship at Imola in September 2009.
