The world-famous Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit hosts the
fourth round of the 2009 FIA Formula Two
Championship.
Ever since starting out as a dirt track motorcycle
circuit in 1926, Brands Hatch has been known for its natural
amphitheatre, with virtually the entire 'Indy' configuration
visible from the spectator banking and grandstands.
Ayrton Senna won his first ever car race at the Kent circuit, and
Nigel Mansell claimed his first Formula One victory there in 1985.
The Briton also won the final Grand Prix to be held at the circuit
during the following year.
Through the 80s and 90s, the circuit changed
ownership several times, before being bought by the MotorSport
Vision group in 2004, headed by ex-F1 driver Jonathan
Palmer. F2 will partner with the
FIA World Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch in
July.
