Parthiva Sureshwaren forged a reputation as one of his country's
leading talents after success in a variety of championships earned
him a call to represent India in the A1GP World Cup of
Motorsport.
Born in Chennai, Parthiva scored his first race victory in the
Indian National Championship for saloon cars, before winning eight
out of ten races in the Indian National Formula Maruti series. He
made the step up to single seaters in 2001 when he competed in the
British F3 National Class, going on to contest selected races in
the Barber Dodge Pro Series in the USA before taking an enforced
sabbatical from the sport due to a lack of budget.
Parthiva made his return to competitive motorsport in 2007 when
he contested a part season in Formula Renault V6 Asia - scoring two
podiums in his first eight races. His performances earned him a
call up to race for A1 Team India in Eastern Creek, Australia. He
raced again for the team in 2008 when he stood in for the injured
Narain Karthikeyan in Durban, South Africa.
Parthiva joined F2 for the 2010 season, and after a solid start
his best result of the year came at Monza, where he recorded his
debut points finish in 10th. He challenged for the points
again at Zolder and Portimao, finishing 12th from 18th on the grid
in Belgium before another strong drive through the field to finish
11th in Portugal. Although his season was cut short, he returns in
2011 full of confidence and determined to impress.
