With a background competing in Formula Renault and International
Formula Master, Formula Two gave Kelvin Snoeks the chance to prove
himself in an equal environment and the Dutchman duly enjoyed one
of his finest seasons - with a maiden podium at Marrakech the
standout highlight.
After acclimatising to Formula Two during the opening event at
Silverstone, Marrakech proved to be Kelvin's crowning weekend as he
qualified inside the top 10 for both races. He demonstrated a
cool head and great overtaking skill to move through the field in
race one, improving six places to secure third at the flag and earn
the first podium of his career. He then finished a solid ninth in
the second race, moving into eighth in the standings in the
process.
Kelvin was competitive again at Monza, qualifying sixth for the
second race, but he had to wait until Zolder to score his next
points when he finished tenth in race two. His season was then
disrupted by a moped accident which forced him to miss Brands Hatch
with a broken ankle, but he displayed remarkable bravery and
determination by returning to action just three weeks later -
scoring four consecutive points finishes at Brno and Oschersleben,
his best run of the year. An eight place finish in the final race
of the season at Valencia made it five top tens in the final six
races, helping him to finish 13th overall.
