Remarkable consistency underpinned an impressive first season in
F2 for Benjamin Lariche, as the Frenchman scored points in twelve
races and at all but one event during the season - a record only
bettered by the championship's top five drivers.
His superb run of results began in the opening event at
Silverstone, where Benjamin maintained his grid position to finish
tenth in the first race of the year. In the next round at Marrakech
he struggled in qualifying, finishing 19th in both sessions, but
two scintillating drives through the field saw him finish ninth and
tenth respectively in the two races - improving by 19 places in
total over the two contests.
Such stirring drives become the hallmark of his season, as he
displayed an uncanny ability to pick up points wherever he
qualified. Top ten results duly followed at Monza, Zolder and the
Algarve, where he also impressed by sealing fifth on the grid for
race two. A double points finish followed at Brno, and while he
recorded his only scoreless weekend of the year in the next round
at Oschersleben he bounced back in style at Valencia, recording his
best qualifying position of the year to start race one from second
and ensuring he ended the season on a high.
Prior to F2, Lariche spent two seasons in Formula Renault WEC,
where highlights included beating Red Bull F1 test driver Daniel
Ricciardo to take victory at Valencia.
