Alex Brundle will rejoin the FIA Formula Two Championship in
2011, after taking a break from the series in 2010 to compete in
British Formula 3.
He first competed in F2 in 2009, making an immediate impression
at the first pre-season test at Snetterton to set the third fastest
time overall. A storming first race of the season then saw him
clinch eighth place at Valencia, which he built on with an
impressive weekend at Spa-Francorchamps - qualifying eighth and
fourth for the two races and claiming a year's best result of fifth
on the legendary Belgian circuit.
More demonstrations of his great potential followed at
Oschersleben and Imola, here Brundle qualified inside the top
ten for three of the four races and could well have taken his
first podium at Imola after a charging drive, had he not been a
victim of dropped oil from Bortolotti, who was just ahead, and gone
off.
In 2010 Brundle switched into British F3, a move he admits
helped develop him as a driver and lent him a new approach to each
race weekend.
Alex's car racing career dates back to 2006 when he competed in
British T Cars, scoring two podiums in his debut season. He made
his single seater bow the same year when he contested the Formula
Palmer Audi Autumn Trophy, before stepping up to the main
championship for the next two seasons.
