Angola's Ricardo Teixeira will join the 2010 FIA Formula Two
Championship after making the switch from GP2 this year.
Teixeira is one of the more experienced drivers in the F2 field,
having made his single seater debut in 2001 in the Formula BMW
Junior Cup Iberia. In 2003 he contested five races in the BRSCC's
ARP Formula 3 championship, winning once, before stepping up to the
British Formula 3 National class for the 2005 and 2006 seasons -
claiming two podiums and seventh overall in his final year.
Teixeira then graduated to the British F3 International class
for 2007 and 2008, whilst also contesting the Zandvoort Masters and
RTL GP Masters of F3. In 2008 he made the switch to the GP2 Asia
Series with Trident Racing, before staying with the team for an
assault on the main series in 2009.
The Angolan has previous experience of the F2 car, having joined
all four days of official winter testing last year. He ran well on
both occasions, finishing inside the top eight on both occasions in
Valencia and recording a best effort little over one second off
Kazim Vasiliauskas' ultimate pace in Portimão.
