Plamen Kralev is one of Bulgaria's leading motorsport figures,
having been elected in 2008 by the National Tourism Agency as his
country's official global motorsport ambassador.
Kralev's racing career began relatively recently in 2007 when he
competed in the Ferrari Challenge Coppa Shell, where he
scored two races wins and took two pole positions in his first
season.
He returned to the series the following year with great success,
taking two wins, two podiums and four pole positions from eight
races. Alongside the Coppa Shell Kralev competed in a variety of
series and again met with success, taking one race win in the
Ferrari Challenge Italia series and a second placed in the ADAC GT
Masters in a Ferrari F430. He also contested six FIA GT3 races.
In 2009 Kralev announced he would be competing in the
International GT Open in his Ferrari 430 GT2. The same year he also
made history by becoming the first Bulgarian ever to compete in the
prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours, finishing 11th in his Porsche 911
GT3.
At the end of 2009 he made the move into the GP2 Asia Series,
where he raced with Trident Racing. He made solid progress
throughout the series, closing the gap between himself and the
frontrunners by around three seconds over the eight races.
