Jolyon Palmer returns to Formula Two in 2010 after a successful
maiden season in international single seaters last year.
Jolyon, who at 18 was one of the youngest competitors in the
2009 field, made the step up to F2 after a strong 2008 saw him
clinch third in the Formula Palmer Audi Championship.
He made a promising start to his F2 season with a 13th in first
qualifying at Valencia, before he made a great start and avoided
the opening lap drama to record his first top ten finish in race
one at Brno. He then built on this with an excellent ninth in
qualifying at Spa, the scene of a proud victory in
Formula Palmer Audi in 2008. After a good start he was
challenging for sixth on the first lap until becoming a victim
of a tangle ahead, damaging his front wing and dropping him
down the order.
Palmer progressed strongly over the final two rounds of the
season, and was thrilled to score his first points of the season
with a sixth place finish in the second race at Imola. Solid
midfield performances in Barcelona confirmed his growing confidence
and provided a positive end to the season.
The development continued in F2's winter tests at the end of
2009, Jolyon finishing with the second fastest time on both days in
Valencia before topping the timesheets ahead of an exceptional
field on the second day of testing in Portimão. With
such strong showings, he will be looking to challenge at the sharp
end of the field in 2010.
