Benjamin Bailly will become the first Belgian driver to compete
in the FIA Formula Two Championship in 2010 in what will only be
his third season in single-seater racing.
Bailly's karting career began in 2004 when he was only 14
years-old. The young Belgian driver finished an impressive 7th
overall in the Belgian Junior Championship in his debut season.
After this success, Bailly started competing in karting across
Europe and also the prestigious karting World Championship where he
finished 5th ahead of 2009 Formula Two star Kazim Vasiliauskas.
2008 saw Bailly make the move into single seaters for two races
in the Formula Renault 2.0 WEC series. With this experience in
single-seater, Bailly moved into the Formul' Academy Euro Series
for 2009 which he won in dominant fashion with 6 wins and 11
podiums. This success led to Bailly receiving backing from the
Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB) for the 2010 season.
Bailly took part in both end of season Formula Two tests at
Valencia and Portimão showing good pace in both tests which
will raise expectations for the young Belgian in the 2010
season.
