Copse
A short run down to the first corner, Copse is a fast sweeping right hander which will require the drivers to have total confidence in the handling of their cars to take it as fast as possible. Getting a good run out of Copse is crucial.
Maggots & Becketts
One of the most daunting challenges for a driver, the fast left-right corners reward brave drivers who are able to carry good speed through this complex. The long run down the Hanger Straight follows, meaning that good exit speed is crucial.
Stowe
One of the best overtaking spots on the circuit, Stowe corner comes at the end of the long Hanger Straight. The right hander encourages drivers to brake late in an attempt to pass the car in front. With ample run-off area, drivers can go side-by-side through Stowe.
Vale & Club
The left hander requires heavy braking and offers another overtaking opportunity. Straight after Vale is Club corner which is a long right hander that will test the tyres on the left of the car.
Bridge
The downhill entry into the corner from the Abbey chicane leads to a corner that can be taken flat out. Drivers will then need to set the car up in time for the heavy braking into the stadium section and be aware of any drivers trying a lunge up the inside
Brooklands & Luffield
The last two corners on the lap are two of the slowest corners on the circuit. The left hander of Brooklands is followed almost immediately by the long right hander of Luffield. Drivers will need patience and not put the power down too early.

Built on the site of a former World War II airfield, the circuit held its first race in September 1947. The Royal Automobile Club took control of the venue shortly after and developed the circuit for the inaugural British Grand Prix in 1950 - the first ever Formula One World Championship event.

The circuit has undergone a number of different guises in the last 60 years and has developed legendary corners such as Copse, Bridge, and the Maggots and Becketts complex. Silverstone is one of the most popular circuits for fans and drivers alike and many great drivers have won at the historic venue, including former world champion Nigel Mansell. His victory at the 1991 British Grand Prix was particularly memorable as he completed his slow-down lap with Ayrton Senna sat on his car, the Brazilian having run out of fuel on the final lap.

The circuit is a challenge for drivers as they will need to set-up the car so that it has enough downforce for the 'stadium' section at the end of the lap, whilst ensuring that the car carries enough speed down the long Hanger Straight.

Silverstone will host the final 2010 F2 pre-season test day, before rounds one and two of the championship take place on 16/18 April.
