With its rolling countryside, dense forests and winding rivers,
Germany is one of the most idyllic and diverse countries in Europe.
Whilst its modern day borders trace back to 962 AD, then part of
the Holy Roman Empire, its origins actually date back a further
nine centuries to the region of Germania, and the architecture and
traditions of such a long history are evident throughout the
country. In modern times Germany has become an economic giant, with
the biggest economy in Europe and the fourth biggest in the world.
It is also a major force in the European Union, and is at the
forefront of the move to create a more unified European policy on
politics, defence and security.

Oschersleben - Why Go?
Oschersleben in located in the west of the Saxony-Anhalt region of
Germany, which was incorporated into the country as recently as
1949. The region is famous for its booming food industry, aided by
the area's very fine soil, as well as numerous wind farms that
produce energy throughout Germany. Magdeburg, the capital of
Saxony-Anhalt, is the closest city to Oschersleben and boasts a
host of tourist attractions including the magnificent Magdeburg
Cathedral and a booming night life.
Oschersleben itself is relatively smaller and quieter than
Magdeburg and had a population of around 20,000. The town has
however become very popular in recent years for the 3.7km
Motorsport Arena Oschersleben which was created in 2000, at the
time only Germany's third permanent race circuit. The circuit has
become a regular fixture on the FIA WTCC calendar, with its dog leg
first corner and twisty infield both proving popular with fans.
Last year the FIA Formula Two Championship visited the circuit,
producing some dramatic moments- including Mikhail Aleshin's famous
aerial escapade at the first corner. Aleshin not only finished the
race, but went on to win the second instalment just 0.479s ahead of
Andy Soucek, who incidentally holds the overall lap record with a
1m21.449s - a benchmark that could well fall when F2 returns this
year.
Useful Information
The Oschersleben Motopark benefits from good transport
links thanks to its proximity to Magdeburg, with the main E30
highway passing to the north of the circuit and the route 246
running directly past the track. By air, the international Berlin
Schoenefeld provides the main transport links, although the
terminal is over 150km to the east, roughly a two hour drive.
Having Euros ready is also advisable given the number of toll roads
along the way.
Formula Two arrives at Oschersleben, Germany, for the
penultimate event of the 2010 season. Tickets start from €10
per person, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. To
