The Motorsport Arena Oschersleben will host the penultimate
round of the 2010 F2 season, the only German venue on the calendar
for the second consecutive season.
The circuit was opened in July 1997, becoming only the third
permanent race track in Germany after the Nürburgring and the
Hockenheimring. Since then Lausitz and the Sachsenring have also
become permanent circuits, but Oschersleben remains one of the more
prominent circuits, hosting DTM, World Superbikes and the FIA GT
series.
The track features a challenging blend of long, fast corners and
sharp hairpins, and also features a dog leg first corner which
bends left before a long right hander - a fearsome section,
particularly on the run down from the start.
Formula Two visited the track for the first time last year, with
Andy Soucek and Mikhail Aleshin sharing the spoils with one victory
each. Interestingly, the circuit saw the smallest margin of victory
in the season, Mikhail Aleshin bettering Soucek by just 0.479
seconds as he crossed the line. Formula Two also holds the official
circuit record, a 1:21.449 set by Soucek in the first race.
Formula Two arrives at Oschersleben, Germany, for the
penultimate event of the 2010 season. Tickets start from €10
per person, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. To
