Italy has one of the richest historical and cultural backgrounds of
any country in Europe, having been the cradle of movements
including the Roman Empire and the Renaissance period. Italy
borders the Alps to its north, whilst its territory also includes
the two largest Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardinia. San
Marino and the Vatican City, both independent states, are located
within Italy, with the Vatican being the 'episcopal see' of global
Catholicism.

Monza - Why Go?
Monza is located in the Lombardy region of Italy, one of
the richest, most highly developed and densely populated areas of
the country. The city has a rich history, with cultural influences
from both the Romans and later the Lombards which can be seen in
the wide variety of churches, bridges and architecture throughout
the city. Monza was originally a comune, or municipality, to the
nearby city of Milan, but in 2009 the city became capital of a new
province, Monza and Brianza.
In recent times Monza has become famous for the Autodromo
Nazionale Monza, which is located inside Monza Park, one of the
largest enclosed parks in Europe. The track dates back to 1922, and
has hosted the Italian Grand Prix for much of its existence. In
addition to legendary corners such Parabolica and di Lesmo, Monza
has earned a reputation as one of the fastest circuits in the
world, with F1 cars achieving their highest average lap speeds at
the Italian venue. The circuit is also the spiritual home of the
legendary Tifosi Ferrari supporters, whilst it is popular with
general fans due to the proximity of the circuit with the historic
landscapes of Monza.
Useful Information
Monza has extremely good transport links, and is serviced
by two main airports, Milan Malpensa and Milan Bergamo. The city's
proximity to Milan also ensures good road and rain links, with the
A4-E64 the main road into the city and the Suburban Railway
providing direct links between the two cities.
Monza has a typical sub-Mediterranean climate, with short
winters and warm summers, and temperatures are forecast to rise to
around 22 degrees Celsius for the weekend. Precipitation is
abundant, however, so make sure to check with weather forecasts
closer to the event. Fans staying out in Italy past F2's event on
21-23 May may wish to enjoy the national holiday
on 2nd June, which is held to commemorate the
dawn of the Italian Republic.
Formula Two arrives at Monza, the home of the Italian Grand
Prix, for rounds five and six of the 2010 season. Tickets start
from €5 per person, with free entry for children aged 11 and
under and discounts available for under 17s. To book tickets click
